A QR code on a wedding invitation — a practical guide
How to place a QR code on an invitation, choose a caption, test the print and safely direct guests to the wedding website.
Where the QR code should lead
The code should open a short, stable address for the invited group. After scanning it, guests should immediately recognize the couple and see a clear way to confirm attendance.
Do not place guest data or RSVP responses inside the code itself. It should contain only the page address, while sensitive information must be protected by the application.
How to prepare the code for print
Keep strong contrast, a clear quiet zone around the code and a practical size. A decorative background must not make the square modules harder to recognize.
- test the final print, not only the file on screen
- check the code on iOS and Android phones
- add a clear caption explaining its purpose
- provide a short backup address next to the code
Test before sending the invitations
Scan every code series after printing a sample. Check that the correct group sees the right names, RSVP form and current celebration details.
Do not change the destination address after distributing invitations. If a change is unavoidable, preserve the old address and add a permanent redirect to the new version.
